Know Symptoms of Psoriasis
Psoriasis requires an inner and outer health approach. Know symptoms of psoriasis and discover foods, nutrients and topicals that promote smooth and healthy skin.
Dealing with psoriasis, as when restoring skin from most poor conditions, requires a two-step plan of action.
There are inner components—dietary requirements that must be met and, almost always, gut imbalances that must be corrected—as well as an outer factor, topical applications to sooth and heal damaged tissue.
What is Psoriasis?
In order to know symptoms of psoriasis, you actually need to know the answer to the questions "What is psoriasis?" or "What does psoriasis look like?"
While there are a range of itchy, red and rough skin ailments, psoriasis looks a little different than skin conditions such as eczema or rosacea. Rather than little bumps, thin flaky dryness or broken capillaries, psoriasis appears as rough, scaly silvery or red patches. The patches or plaques are usually quite thick and often have a shiny appearance.
Where Does Psoriasis Appear?
Psoriasis can appear on various parts of the body, but most commonly shows up on arms, points of the elbows and knees, legs, back, scalp and ears. Unlike eczema and rosacea, which can commonly appear on the cheeks and face, psoriasis' impact on the head area is most often on the scalp and/or ears; it rarely affects the face.
The symptoms of psoriasis can also appear on toenails and fingernails. In those areas, psoriasis causes nails to lose their sheen and to develop ridges and pitting. Psoriasis can appear at any age but most commonly affects teenagers and young adults between the ages of fifteen and twenty-five.
