Eczema CausesYour first step to discovering natural "cures" for eczema means knowing eczema causes. There can be a variety of causes for skin rashes in general and in particular, causes for eczema. As mentioned on the eczema symptoms page, eczema seems to be predominantly triggered by a reaction between unhealthy skin (i.e. thin skin, skin that has a diminished acid mantle, skin that is doing a poor job in providing proper barrier functioning) and some sort of irritant.

Eczema Causes and Triggers Eczema causes that often go hand in hand with unhealthy skin and/or contact with certain elements are foundational root causes of eczema such as nutritional deficiencies, dysbiosis—an unhealthy imbalance in gut microbes—and stress. The use of harsh soaps and detergents can also contribute to eczema skin symptoms in at least two ways: first, unsuitable skin care products contain moisture-stripping chemicals and therefore contribute to skin deterioration, and secondly, poor quality body care products' negative impact on the skin's natural protective barrier is likely to trigger a reaction. Become educated regarding the impact of synthetic chemicals on skin health and wellness in general, choose certified organic body care products and natural household cleaners. In addition, contact with certain jewelry, or other metal products (i.e. containing nickel) can often be a problematic eczema causes. Note if watches and watch straps, costume jewelry, bra clasps, zippers and even razor blades cause increased rash. One of my clients had severe headache and skin rash reactions to her jewelry.
