Candida Spit Test

How do you do a Candida spit test and determine if results are accurate? First recognize that a Candida saliva test has the potential to be a helpful tool in determining if problematic physical and emotional symptoms are indeed at least partially a result of Candida overgrowth.

Bear in mind, however, that a Candida spit test is not a be-all, end-all. For some people, Candida saliva test results line up quite nicely with a Candida Symptoms Survey. When these folks note a high number or intensity of symptoms listed on the Candida Symptoms Survey, they also get the stringy or cloudy water results on a Candida saliva test that can indicate Candida overgrowth. When their symptoms diminish, their home Candida test results clear up.

They may initially have a cloudy or string response to the Candida saliva test when their Candida Albicans symptoms are high, but they may not find they get a totally clear saliva test response, even when their symptoms are much improved.

The body detoxes on a regular basis and each of us uses our main elimination organs—lungs, kidneys, colon and skin—for that purpose. But also remember that each of us is unique, and is eliminating a unique combination of waste materials and toxins. The lungs' expulsion of that personalized batch of waste material through the mouth may impact a person's saliva (i.e. ropey, thin, clear, speckled) and in turn, a person's Candida spit test results.

Therefore, don't rely solely on results of a Candida saliva test as means of determining a Candida yeast overgrowth. Symptoms of Candida, as noted on a Candida Symptoms Survey, are a more reliable indication of dysbiosis or yeast overgrowth. If, however, scores on an initial Candida Symptoms Survey are high, for many people it is possible to double-check the presence of Candida overgrowth with the following simple home Candida test.

Simple Candida Spit Test

In this home test for Candida, first thing in the morning, before putting anything (i.e. food, toothpaste, water, tea) in your mouth, get a clear glass. Fill the glass with water and work up a bit of saliva in your mouth and then spit it into the glass of water. Check the water every 15 minutes or so thereafter for up to one hour. If Candida imbalance is present, you will most likely see strings (i.e. like legs) traveling down into the water from the saliva floating on the top of the water, or "cloudy" saliva that sinks to the bottom of the glass or cloudy specks that seem suspended in the water. If there are no strings and the saliva is still floating after at least an hour, Candida imbalance is likely not an issue.
