Candida Colon Cleanse

Time for a Candida colon cleanse? Chronic constipation, diarrhea, bloating and gas on the inside can mean rashes, pimples, boils, acne and other skin problems on the outside. A candida colon cleanse can help. In other words, it is hard to overestimate the benefits and power of a proper colon cleanse both in correcting candida overgrowth as well as in dealing with a build up of waste material.

While all holistic nutritionists recognize the benefit of a clean and properly functioning digestive tract, my friend, Brenda Eastwood, also a Registered Nutritional Consulting Practitioner, has become quite a resource on colon health in general and the candida colon cleanse in particular. For Begin Within Natural Skincare's section on colon cleanses, therefore, I'm adapting some of the information she has compiled over her years of research and work with numerous clients.

The Link Between Colon and Skin Health

Why all the fuss about colon cleanses and the Candida colon cleanse specifically?

Candida Colon Cleanse Torso Virtually all of the skin health-challenged clients in my nutritional consulting practice suffer some degree of gut intestinal imbalance, Brenda too has seen that link.

As Brenda often mentions in the Women's Health Seminars she teaches, "The condition of your digestive system dictates everything about how you will look and feel, from your energy levels to the radiance of your skin to the efficiency of your metabolism." (Emphasis mine.)

The problem for most people though is the lack of knowledge of colon health's impact on the rest of the body, and a lack of awareness of the symptoms poor colon functioning can produce.

Without proper bowel function some of the food that is eaten and should be eliminated stays in the body, rots and decays. This improper elimination leaves a gluey residue along the intestinal wall which builds up over time, and the rotting fecal matter begins to produce toxins. The body's attempts to deal the decaying material impacts health in general and taxes the elimination organs, including the skin, in particular.

Additionally, an improperly functioning colon can set the stage for an imbalanced internal ratio of good to bad bacteria (i.e. dysbiosis). Both the toxins produced by decaying material and a yeast overgrowth contribute to skin problems. Finally, a build up of fecal material in the lining of the intestines can inhibit absorption of the nutrients in food and supplements. Less of the nutrients essential to good skin and general health, leads to diminished overall wellness and, specifically, poor skin.

Potential Symptoms of Poor Colon Health

While the range of symptoms of an unhealthy colon are many, their appearance is good indication that a Candida colon cleanse could be a helpful wellness measure.

Possible effects of poor colon health include indigestion (i.e. flatulence, burping, heartburn, bloating), headaches or migraines, sinus congestion, lowered resistance to infections, insomnia or need for more sleep, loss of vitality or lowered energy for no apparent cause, joint pain or migrating general aches and pains and estrogen dominancehealthy colons help excrete excess hormones.

Additionally, and of prime importance to Begin Within Natural Skincare visitors, poor colon functioning can lead to bad skin:

Simple Ways to Bring Balance to Colon Health

Candida colon cleanses can look as simple as following the Healthy Foods List, Candida Foods List or Specific Carbohydrate Diet Foods List, reducing stress and increasing exercise.

Anyways, I haven't really told you how the cleanse went in January so I thought I should fill you in a bit. The cleanse went excellent. Thanks for everything. DH

Additionally, more in-depth methods of bringing balance to the colon include correcting dysbiosis—an unhealthy ratio of gut bacteria—and ensuring correct intake of vitamins and minerals.

In a nutshell, start to improve colon health by adopting the following tips, some of Brenda Eastwood's best colon health, and therefore best skin health, practises:
  • drink ½ oz of filtered water per pound of body weight daily
  • eat 2 cups of vegetables, preferably organic, every day—not including your intake of lettuce, peas, corn, mushrooms and potato
  • have wheat-free days and even gluten-free days where you also avoid other gluten-containing grains such as barley, oats and rye
  • sit down, slow down and chew your food well
  • learn how to deal with stress
  • exercise at least 3-5 times per week for 12-20 minutes at a time (for great results, try a rebounder or trampoline)
  • avoid milk and consume as little other dairy products as possible (the exception would be raw, organic cheeses)
  • correct any magnesium deficiency by taking magnesium citrate powder or capsules
  • remove any suspected food allergens from your diet
  • keep your body slightly alkaline by eating lots of leafy green vegetables or taking aloe vera juice, liquid minerals or chlorophyll, alfalfa, or organic green super foods
  • supplement with a range of essential vitamins and minerals
  • correct any dysbiosis (i.e. imbalance of gut bacteria)
  • empty bowels as soon as you are aware of the need
Candida Colon Cleanses

Once you have been following the simple diet and lifestyle practises noted above for a couple of weeks, it can still be helpful to do a more formal version of the colon cleanses available and include the use of herbs and supplements.

Good colon cleanses generally include three types of products: an herbal tea, capsule or tablets that has some sort of laxative effect to keep the bowels moving regularly, a powdered fibre supplement and a capsule or tablet that contains herbs to cleanse the lymphatic system and help release impacted fecal material from intestinal walls. Candida colon cleanses would additionally require supplementing with a good quality probiotic product.

Finally, consider the use of Castor Oil Packs (COPs) for chronic constipation or in conjunction with a colon cleanse. COPs help stimulate the flow of lymphatic fluid. That means they can increase nutrient flow to the area to which a pack is applied and can facilitate removal of waste material from the area as well.
